We specialise in the use of Western Red Cedar from Canada to build our greenhouses. We take great care to ensure that we get the best raw materials for environmentally sustainable sources and we make sure that quality is maintained from forest to greenhouse. (Picture 1)
We import our western Red Cedar from a small number of mills on the west coast of Canada (Picture 2) and this is then shipped for us to our yard in Bells Yew Green south of Tunbridge Wells. This journey from tree to yard is part of our Chain of Custody. This is an on going process to make sure that our quality standards are as high as those we have applied since we started using Western Red Cedar.
Once in our yard the timber is stored and seasons naturally. (Picture 3) The rough planks are moved into our own machine shop where they are cut and profiled. (Picture 4) We use the same profiles that we were using in the 1930's. (We still have the original mahogany profile for the greenhouse sill that was first used to set the machines when we made our first greenhouse.)

Once machined the timber undergoes further seasoning as it sits and waits to be used. (Picture 5) From the machine shop the timber moves into the workshop for assembly into your greenhouse. (Picture 6) All of our greenhouses are individually made to order. The timbers from the machine shop are given a final finish by hand than assembled into the greenhouse that has been ordered. (Picture 7) We are following in a long tradition of Sussex craftsmen.
On site the customer will prepare their base from the drawings we have supplied. (Picture 8) In the workshop we build the greenhouse to the same plans. The greenhouse arrives in sections and all goes back together on site. Every part has been together so that we know it will be a perfect fit when it arrives in your garden. (Pictures 9, 10 and 11) When the greenhouse is finished in the workshop the parts are dismantled into large sections and all parts are carefully numbered.
When you receive your greenhouse you can be sure that large or small all the parts will go back together. (Pictures 12 and 13)
We can quote for us to erect and glaze on site for local projects but for most of our widely dispersed customers this part of the project should be undertaken locally.
